I agree with CarlosRPEvertsz after mess up a lot with clean machine windows 10 I thought I would come back to windows 8.1 where Cisco VPN used to work but VPNC Front End helped me specially because I had pcf file format to import!

Thanks a lot for this post, I didn't find the registry details to edit. Mine is a upgrade of Windows 10 Pro.

What worked for me was an uninstall of the previous client and running the install using compatibility for previous version of windows.

When the major windows update rolled out last night, it beheaded my VPN Client installation.

The service, some files, and most of the registry entries were removed. It does not show on the windows programs and features app anymore. Microsoft left enough of it behind though to prevent reinstalling the client software (I get an Error 28000: Before installing ..., you must uninstall the previous version).

Anyone else have this same problem? Any workarounds? I tried removing other registry entries and the vpn folders to no avail.

Help! :0

Hi, I also lost my cisco vpn when updating to the latest windows 10. Reinstalling both cisco and the dell sonicwall sotware did not work. After trying a couple of times the install of the cisco software even became corrupted, and I could not install nor deinstall it anymore. As a last resort I tried the Shrew VPN software I read about here. After importing my cisco profile (from: C:\Program Files (x86)\Cisco Systems\VPN Client\Profiles) it just worked. Thanks for your help!

Thank You...

( HP Stream Laptop ) ( Win 10 ( BUILD 1511 ) 64bit ) vpnclient-winx64-msi-5.0.07.0290

Followed all of the steps apart from the reg edit received error 442 did the reg edit then it is working like a charm.

Well, I am using windows 10 64bit and after subscribing OneVPN service i just download anyconnect VPN for pc app from this website everything working good even anyconnect pulling server list seamlessly.

Steps didn't work for me, as windows didn't restore the deleted files upon reboot. I had to restore them manually with an elevated command prompt (using a different windows partition) and copy the original files over from the windows sxs folder (find them with the command: [dir /s ndis.sys]) Reboot now works.

Does this work for 64 bit win7 also ? I tried the same steps that joshP mentioned in my 64bit windows 7 7068 build. The winFix & DNEupdate64bit isntalled fine, but the cisco vpnclient setup is erroring out saying that this version of setup does not support 64-bit.

I can not install any version of Cisco vpnclient-win-msi-5.0.0xxx.exe on windows 7 buid 7100 64 bit. The error msg that I have is "Error 28011: Windows 64-bit is not support by Cisco System VPN Clietn 5.0.05.0290.".

Problem is that I cannot get it to connect, it just timeout reaching the VPN concentrator. Error message is 412 the remote peer is no longer responding. I've tried also creating ad hoc windows firewall rules disabling it at all and still have the same issue.

I have as well windows 7 64 bit, installed the DNE and afterwards tried to install Cisco VPN Client 5.0.06.0110. Still I'm getting the same error: "Error 28011: Windows 64-bit is not support by Cisco System ... "

Amazing so easy, now why in the world does windows make it so difficult!, Download winfix, download dne reset, then this, all to install something that always worked perfectly well in win 7!! Thanks a million!

Great article. My issue was with Any connect VPN client on windows 8.1. Client would throw an error after i have supplied username and password and on checking the windows event viewer log i see warning with a message saying Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client must be reinstalled after you upgrade windows. I found that for AnyConnect client registry is located at \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\vpnva. at said location i removed extra characters from the DisplayName key as mentioned above in the article and worked like a charm!! Just FYI client exe was for windows7/vista.

Hi I had made all the require changes as given by you, I checked regedit that is also correct ,Can you give any other solution. I am used windows 8 Enterprise 32 -bit version. And VPN Client version is vpnclient-win-msi-5.0.06.0160-k9

Hi I had made all the require change, I checked regedit that is also correct , I tried with uninstall and re install but same problem not able to connect. Can you give any other solution. I am used windows 8.1 Enterprise version. And VPN Client version is 5.0.07.0440

I updated to windows 10 on all our Surface Pro 3s and received the 433 issue on one of them after updating DNE, reinstalling Cisco VPN Client, and changing the registry entry for CVirtA. I almost pulled my hair out trying to figure out why this one surface kept throwing up the Reason 443. I finally figure out that under Network and Sharing Center -> Advance sharing settings, I had to select the radio button for "Use user accounts and passwords to connect to other computers" under HomeGroup connections. Once I did that, the Reason 443 issue disappeared. Hope this helps someone!! 2351a5e196
