Privacy Policy - Vox Publica

Vox Publica is an educational app about democracy and history. This policy explains, in plain language, what information the app handles and what it does not.

The short version

• The app does not ask you to create an account.

• The app does not collect or sell your personal information.

• Learning progress, chats you save, notes, bookmarks, and settings stay on your device.

• Chats with historical personas run offline using content built into the app.

• If you turn on Calendar access, the app can add reminders to your Apple Calendar.

• If you open an outside link (for example Wikipedia or a web search), that site has its own privacy rules.

Information the app stores on your device

Vox Publica may store things like:

• Your learning progress (topics completed, streaks, achievements, difficulty level, and similar)

• Saved conversations, notes, bookmarks, and personal action items

• App settings (theme, accessibility preferences, daily chat limit, haptics, animations, and similar)

This information is saved locally on your iPhone or iPad (for example in the app’s local storage). It is used to make the app work for you — for example, to remember progress and show your learning overview inside the app.

What we do not collect

As of this version of the app:

• We do not require a name, email address, or login.

• We do not use third-party advertising or tracking networks in the app.

• We do not send your chat messages or learning progress to our own servers for analysis.

• Map views show historical places from content in the app. The app is not designed to track your personal location.

(“Learning Analytics” inside the app means a summary of your on-device progress. It is not a third-party analytics product.)

Calendar access (optional)

If you choose to grant Calendar permission, Vox Publica can add or manage study/action reminders in your Apple Calendar. The app uses this only for that purpose. You can refuse or revoke Calendar access in iOS Settings at any time. Without Calendar access, the rest of the app still works.

Links to other websites

Some screens let you open related content in Safari or another browser (for example Wikipedia or a web search). Those services are run by other companies. What they collect is governed by their privacy policies, not this one. The developer of this app does not control those sites.

How to delete your data in the app

Because most data stays on your device, you can clear it by:

• Using the app’s reset / start-over option in Settings (where available), and/or

• Deleting the app from your device

Deleting the app removes the app’s local data stored on that device. Calendar events already created in Apple Calendar may remain until you delete them yourself in Calendar.

Apple and device services

Apple may process limited technical information related to how you download or use apps from the App Store, or diagnostic data you choose to share with Apple through iOS. That is controlled by Apple’s policies and your device settings.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles information in a meaningful way (for example by adding accounts, cloud sync, or analytics), we will update this Privacy Policy and the “Last updated” date.
