By Daniel Roscoe
I first joined the micronational community in April 2020. I was very new to the concept of micronationalism, but well taught in the business of politics and law. I formed the Unified Royal States of Australis, or what it was known back then, the Commonwealth of Australis.
As a result of the Honourable delegate for Aenderia, Mr. Jayden Lycon, announcing that he is not seeking re-election in the January 2021 Chairman Election, the need has arisen for a new Chair, one that can strive to meet the level of dedication that Mr. Lycon has, and go beyond even that.
This document outlines my plans and philosophy for the future of the Alliance, should I become elected, and also serves as my written declaration of my candidacy for the election.
The Lycon Administration has brought many programs and initiatives to the Alliance. However, they have also let many programs fall into a state of abandonment or inactivity. Some of these programs had the potential to greatly benefit the Cupertino Alliance but did not reach their full potential. I, however, with the help of a new Cabinet, will strive to revive and continue these programs.
Cupertino Alliance Gazette
The Cupertino Alliance Gazette was one of the most useful resources that the Cupertino Alliance had to offer. However, the Gazette fell into inactivity. This source of information provided information for delegates of the Alliance and external observers alike. I will reform the Gazette, and appoint active, skilled journalists who are also delegates of the Alliance to recommence writing it.
Cupertino Guide
The Cupertino Guide, although a project currently seeing revival during the last two months of the Lycon Administration, shall continue to see development during my term, so that it does not get left in a ‘Work in progress’ state once again. This program will be led by the Minister of Agreements, Development, and Projects, as well as the Minister of MicroWiki Affairs.
Weather Stations Project
The Weather Stations project was a project that was capable of informing citizens of major weather events, using a script that took external weather information and informed delegates of said weather via Discord. Few nations participated, and the project fell into inactivity. I will make use of our technologically skilled delegates and ministers in order to redevelop the script for use yet again, also presenting additional weather information and providing updates to the Cupertino Alliance Discord server. All member states will eventually be connected to the Weather Stations project under a Roscoe administration.
Green Cities Project
As an environmentalist, I was disappointed to see that the Green Cities project had fallen into inactivity. This program is perhaps one of the most important that the Alliance has, as it holds the potential to benefit our planet, even if it only brings about a minimal impact. I will expand the Green Cities project, so that it may be accessible by all member nations around the world, so that members of the Alliance can help the planet, and also develop their economies by selling the crops reaped from the plants.
The Alliance, throughout its history, has seen exponential growth, quickly becoming one of the most recognisable organisations in the community, and certainly one of the most professional. If elected, I will bring further growth to the Alliance.
Old Guard
The Alliance has been mainly composed of micronations from the New Guard. Under a Roscoe Administration, I will attempt to make the Alliance more appealing to older micronations, and invite said nations to apply for Cupertino Alliance membership.
Growth of the Asia/Oceania Sector
In order to stimulate growth within the Asian/Oceanian Sector, I will appoint a small committee with the goal of scouting the Asia/Oceania region for micronations suitable for membership of the Cupertino Alliance, or micronations that could gain membership with minor work in the nation. This committee will report their findings at Cupertino Alliance sessions and invite the nation to apply for membership.
Regional Cooperation
Should I be elected, I will form a regional cooperation program. This program will pair nations in close physical proximity to one another and organise and endorse meetups similar to the North York meetup between Aenderia and Humberlea. The program would allow member states to massively boost relations with one another and would boost the reputation and reach of the Alliance.
Currently, main and auxiliary sessions have seen great success, and I personally don’t see a reason to change what isn’t broken. I would, however, be interested in pioneering additional session types within the Alliance. These sessions would be of an extended length and would have more goals than traditional sessions.
24 Hour Sessions
During previous occasions, some organizations have held 24 hour sessions. During my tenure as Chair of the Cupertino Alliance, I will commence a 24 hour session, a special session that could be held once or twice a year. This would have the primary goal of being a charity session, but also the secondary goal of acting as a normal Cupertino Alliance session.
Virtual Summits
If elected, I will make it one of my highest priorities to organise and host Virtual Summits, similar to the November 2020 GUM Virtual Summit. Virtual Summits would be of an extended length, and would have two primary goals; passing legislation, discussing micronationalism. I believe that summits like these, once or twice a year, would be highly beneficial to the Alliance, and to getting its name out there, for all to see, Old and New Guard alike.
I seek your vote in the upcoming 2021 Chairmanship election of the Cupertino Alliance, so that I may continue Jayden Lycon’s legacy, and so that I may usher in a new era for the Alliance. Let’s work together, listen to the people, and let us prosper as one!
For thee we stand together.
