ABIYE AMABEOKU FOR CLEARWATER COUNCIL

I came to Canada from Nigeria at 18 to pursue an education in Environmental Science at Simon Fraser University. Nearly fourteen years later, Canada has become my home. Over the next twelve years in the Lower Mainland, I completed my education, built my career, got married, and started a family. Canada has provided me with opportunities, community, and a place to belong. 

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Simon Fraser University, a Certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation. I am also completing a Master of Sustainability, specializing in Energy Security, through the University of Saskatchewan. My academic and professional experiences have shaped my passion for responsible stewardship, sustainable community development, and long-term planning.

A year and a half ago, my family decided to leave the Lower Mainland and make Clearwater our home. While we chose Clearwater, I often say that Clearwater chose us. Through the warmth, kindness, and sense of belonging we experienced, this community quickly became home.

As a mother of two young children, I often think about Clearwater's future. Not just the Clearwater we see today, but the Clearwater that will exist ten, fifteen, and twenty years from now. What opportunities will our children have? What kind of community will they inherit? What legacy will we leave behind?

These questions are at the heart of why I am running for Council.

Anchored by my faith in Jesus, I believe in servant leadership, responsible stewardship, and inclusive collaboration. 

My commitment is simple: to help build a strong, resilient future for generations to come.
