About

My name is Lela Wang and I am doing a non-partisan voting advocacy project. I asked people to make a voting sign to display, and if it's in a business, to ask that business about their history and struggles in this difficult year. Then everyone answered the question, Does one vote matter, and why?

I think it is very important that everybody votes because that's the foundation of our democracy; we get to choose the people that lead our local government, state government, and our country. It’s so important that each and every one of us exercises our right to vote, especially because voter participation rates in the United States have been low the last couple of years. It is also important that people know that there are many ways to vote such as absentee ballot, through early voting or by showing up and voting. We have to recognize some people can’t get the day off on voting day and can’t get to the polls because they take care of small children or aging relatives. It’s very important that we support various ways of voting over a longer period of time so we can get our voter turnout up and so democracy reflects the opinions of the entire country and each and every one of us.

Thank you to all the contributors and to URJ-RAC for the training to carry this out.
