Mrs. Voss
Dear Parents,
Welcome to Second Grade — where the pencils are sharp, the glue sticks are full (for now), and your child is about to have a fantastic year of learning, growing, and maybe losing a few teeth along the way!
I'm so excited to have your child in my class this year. I can't wait to get to know them, and I promise to do my best to make this school year educational, safe, and yes — even fun!
A little about me: I grew up mostly in Butte, but I did a quick stint here in Dillon as a kid and even attended Mary Innes School. I earned my BA in Education and my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Montana. Over the past 28 years, I’ve taught everything from 1st to 4th grade, Title I, art, music, high school remedial math (yes, really), and even ran a one-room school — just like Little House on the Prairie, but with electricity and indoor plumbing.
I truly love what I do and feel lucky to spend my days with children. My goal is to create a classroom where your child feels safe, supported, and seen. If your child ever comes home feeling unhappy or uneasy about school, please reach out right away. We're a team!
Also, feel free to share anything that will help me better understand your child. Do they learn best when they can move around? Do they love dinosaurs, dislike spiders, or have a passion for knock-knock jokes? (I accept all kinds of fun facts.)
Each week, I’ll send home a newsletter with class updates and reminders, as well as the spelling list for the week. These letters will not only keep you in the loop, but may also help you answer the age-old question: “What did you do at school today?” with something more than, “Nothing.”
Please don’t hesitate to call or email me if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to say hi. I’m here to help and truly believe that when we work together, great things happen. Let’s make this a memorable and amazing year — with only minor incidents involving glue.
Sincerely,
Tara Voss
