The purpose of the Voices of Praise Gospel Choir is to be a visual entity of God on the campus of Texas A&M University that ministers to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of all God's children and provide an avenue by which believers freely praise and worship the Lord!
The goal of the Voices of Praise Gospel Choir is that students may grow in the body of Christ individually and collectively and commit themselves to a life of service and leadership in the kingdom of God; while spreading the word of God through song on the Texas A&M University campus and the community.
The Voices of Praise Gospel Choir was organized on the campus of Texas A&M University in the fall of 1980. The choir was named the Black Awareness Committee Choir and held its first rehearsal in the spring of 1981 in the MSC Flagroom with a membership of 10 to 15 students.
The choir broke away from the Black Awareness Committee (known today as the Woodson Black Awareness Committee) to become the Voices of Praise Gospel Choir, more commonly referred to as VOP. The choir was considered a recognized student organization in the Spring of 1987.
Today, VOP remains a recognized student organization on the campus of Texas A&M University. VOP has had the opportunity to minister through song with great performers: V. Michael McKay, Byron Cage, JJ Hairston, Shirley Caesar, Tamela & David Mann, and countless other anointed entertainers.
Over the past 20+ years of the organization's existence, VOP has been able to add additional ministries including Silent Voices of Praise (Praise Dance Ministry) and a full band.
Every year VOP is reaching new heights in Christ!

"But the hour cometh and now is when true worshippers shall worship the Father in Spirit and in truth, for the Father seeketh such to worship Him. God is a spirit and they that worship him much worship Him in Spirit and in Truth." John 4: 23-24
Join SVOP (Silent Voices of Praise) dance team! We bring the art of mime and praise dance to a greater level of acceptance and appreciation.
"Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp. For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the [a]humble with salvation." Psalm 149:3-4
If playing a(n) instrument(s) is your calling, join our band to praise him through sound!
"When the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord, the priests stood in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites, the sons of Asaph, with cymbals, to praise the Lord, according to the ordinance[b] of David king of Israel. And they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the Lord." Ezra 3:10
