From yesterday's lesson, Lesson 3, one of the extension task is for students to explore if there were any objects that are made up of two or more solids. Building on top of that, the teacher re-introduces to students composite solids and explain to students the lesson today is on volume of composite solids.
The teacher should recall composite figures and link that to students wherein they have used it co calculate area, and also Surface Area of Composite Shapes.
The teacher goes through the PowerPoint presentation and allows time for students to complete the activity. This lesson combines individual then group work task. The teacher instructs the students to apply Solve - Think - Apply model and walk around the classroom to ensure students are on task. (AFL) (Understanding, Reasoning, Problem Solving)

Definition: Some objects are formed by joining two or more more familiar objects or removing part of an object. The volume of these composite objects is found by adding or subtracting the volumes of the components.
Note: This activity requires a long time for students to build the solids then putting them together to figure out a composite solid. (recommend spending close to a whole lesson).
