Privacy Policy
Application Name: Volume Booster - Sound Amplifier (600% Louder)
This Privacy Policy explains the methods by which the Volume Booster - Sound Amplifier (600% Louder) browser extension collects, uses, protects, and discloses information from our users.
1. Types of Information Collected
Our extension operates on the principle of Minimal Data Collection to provide its core functionality.
A. Information Not Collected
Personally Identifiable Information (PII): The extension does not collect any personally identifiable information, such as your name, email address, IP address, geographical location, or user account details.
Browsing History: The URLs or content of the websites you visit are not logged, tracked, or shared with third parties.
Usage Metrics: The extension does not collect usage statistics (like click count or session duration) for analysis, advertising, or tracking purposes.
B. Information Collected (Local Storage)
The only data the extension collects is for the sole purpose of retaining user preferences, utilizing the browser's local storage mechanism:
Preferred Volume Level (Volume Value): This is a single numerical value (between 0 and 600) representing the volume boost setting.
Purpose: To permanently save the user's last adjusted volume level and automatically apply it when opening new tabs or restarting the browser.
Storage Location: This data is stored only within your local browser storage (chrome.storage.local). It is never transmitted to external servers or accessed by us.
2. Justification for Permissions
The extension requires specific permissions from your browser to execute its function. The use of these permissions is strictly limited to the purposes described below:
storage: This permission is required only to save the preferred volume level setting within your browser.
tabs: This permission is needed for the Popup script to query the active tab ID and reliably send volume adjustment messages to the Content Script running in that specific tab.
host_permissions (http://*/* and https://*/*): These permissions are necessary to allow the Content Script (content.js) to be injected into all webpages. This allows the script to capture audio/video elements and apply the volume gain using the Web Audio API, which is the extension’s primary feature.
The extension does not use these permissions for any purpose other than those stated above, and it does not collect or share any sensitive user data.
3. Third-Party Services
The extension does not utilize any third-party services, analytics tools, or advertising networks to provide its functionality.
4. Data Security
The only data we collect—the volume preference—is stored securely in your local browser storage. There is no external access to this data.
5. Changes to the Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make any material changes to the policy, we will notify you by posting a notice on the extension's listing page or within the extension itself.
