Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players each compete to score points by sending a ball over a net and into the opposing team's court. The ball is hit by players using their hands, and the objective is to make the ball land on the opponent's side of the court, while preventing the ball from landing on your own side.

The game is played in sets, with each set typically played to 25 points (with a team needing to win by at least 2 points). The team that wins a set is the first to reach 25 points and must win a predetermined number of sets, often 3 or 5, to win the match. Players are allowed three touches to return the ball over the net, and common techniques include passing (bumping), setting, and spiking.

Volleyball can be played in both indoor and beach formats, with beach volleyball usually played in teams of two. The sport is popular worldwide and is known for its fast pace, teamwork, and skillful techniques.
