Voice Typing AI Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Voice Typing AI handles user data.

1. App Overview

Voice Typing AI is a floating voice-to-text assistant. Users can tap the floating button to start recording and tap again to stop recording. The app sends the audio recorded by the user to the AI service selected by the user, such as Gemini or OpenAI, for speech-to-text conversion, text correction, translation, and simple Q&A features. The processed text is copied to the system clipboard so that users can paste it into other apps.

2. Data We Process

Voice Typing AI does not create user accounts, does not operate its own developer server, and does not upload users’ API keys to a developer-controlled server.

To provide its core features, the app may process the following data:

1. Microphone audio: audio recorded when the user actively taps the recording button.

2. Transcribed text: text generated from audio, correction, translation, or Q&A features.

3. API keys: Gemini or OpenAI API keys entered by the user. These are stored only on the user’s device.

4. Local settings: model selection, target language, floating button settings, widget settings, and related preferences.

5. Widget content: notes and Q&A history created through the home screen widget, stored only on the user’s device.

3. How We Use Data

The data is used only for the following purposes:

1. Converting the user’s speech into text.

2. Correcting repeated words, pauses, unclear phrases, or possible recognition errors.

3. Translating text when the user selects translation mode.

4. Providing quick notes and simple Q&A features in the home screen widget.

5. Copying generated text to the system clipboard so the user can manually paste it into other apps.

6. Saving user preferences locally on the device.

Voice Typing AI does not sell user data and does not use user data for advertising.

4. Third-Party AI Services

When the user selects Gemini or OpenAI, the app uses the API key provided by the user to send user-recorded audio or related text directly to the selected AI service. This is done only to provide speech recognition, text correction, translation, and Q&A functionality.

These requests are sent to the selected provider over HTTPS.

Voice Typing AI does not send audio, text, or API keys to a developer-controlled server. Data processing by Gemini or OpenAI is governed by the terms and privacy policies of those third-party providers.

5. API Key Storage

API keys entered by the user are stored only on the user’s device and are used only to call the AI service selected by the user. The app does not upload API keys to a developer-controlled server and does not share them with other people.

The current version uses Android Keystore to encrypt API keys locally and disables app data backup to reduce the risk of API keys being backed up or transferred. Users should keep their API keys private and should not share them with others.

6. Clipboard

The app copies processed text to the system clipboard. Clipboard content may be accessible to the operating system or other apps with relevant permissions, depending on the device, operating system version, and installed apps. Users can overwrite clipboard content at any time.

7. Permissions

The app may request the following permissions:

1. Microphone permission: used only when the user actively records audio.

2. Overlay permission: used to display the floating recording button over other apps.

3. Internet permission: used to call the Gemini or OpenAI API selected by the user.

4. Notification and foreground service permissions: used to show the status of the floating button service and improve long-running stability.

5. Vibration permission: used for feedback when recording starts, stops, or translation mode is triggered.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

Voice Typing AI does not store user data on a developer-controlled server. API keys, settings, widget notes, and Q&A history are stored locally on the user’s device.

Users can delete local data by:

1. Clearing related widget content inside the app.

2. Clearing the app’s data in Android system settings.

3. Uninstalling the app.

Data retention and deletion for third-party AI services depend on the policies of the selected provider.

9. Children’s Privacy

Voice Typing AI is not specifically designed for children. Parents or guardians should decide whether children may use the app and should ensure that children do not enter or record sensitive personal information.
