Overview Voice Typer is a Chrome extension that lets you dictate text into any text field on any webpage using your voice. This policy explains what data the extension does and does not access.
Data We Do Not Collect Voice Typer does not collect, store, transmit, or share any of the following:
Voice recordings or audio data
Transcribed text or speech output
Browsing history or visited URLs
Text field contents or any page content
Personal identifiers (name, email, IP address, etc.)
Crash reports or usage analytics
How Speech Recognition Works All speech recognition is performed entirely by Chrome's built-in Web Speech API, which runs locally within your browser. The extension never touches your audio stream — it only receives the final text result from the browser's engine and inserts it into the active text field. Google's handling of Web Speech API data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. Voice Typer itself has no involvement in that process.
Permissions Used
All URLs (host permission): Required so the mic button can appear on any website the user visits. The extension only interacts with the text field the user explicitly focuses — no page content is read or transmitted.
Microphone: Requested by the browser natively when you first click the mic button. The extension does not have programmatic access to raw audio — only the browser's speech engine does.
Active Tab: Used by the extension popup to detect restricted pages (e.g. chrome:// URLs) so it can display an appropriate warning.
No Storage Voice Typer uses no cookies, localStorage, chrome.storage, or any other persistent storage. All state is held in memory only for the duration of the current page session and discarded when you navigate away.
No Remote Code The extension contains no remotely hosted scripts. All code is bundled within the extension package. No code is fetched or executed from external servers.
No Third-Party Sharing Voice Typer does not integrate with any analytics services, advertising networks, or third-party data processors. There is no data to share because no data is collected.
Children's Privacy Voice Typer does not collect any data from any users, including children.
