On that PC we have been using the 'Voice Recorder' app that comes with windows 10 to record meetings in this room.

The person typing up the minutes of the meetings tells me our most recent recording is truncated.

On inspection the file is of type .m4a and the recording finishes exactly on 3 hours.

This exact finish time seems to much of a coincidence, like it hit a limit somewhere which is rather unfortunate.

Thanks BSOD'D, I went and looked at Audacity. Can you tell me if it has a simple interface mode/skin? The people running this recorder are not technical, I need something with just obvious Start Recording, Stop or Pause, something indicating it is working and where it is saved. The only screenshots I've seen of Audacity appear overwhelming complex so it may be the wrong tool.

I connect my Sony voice recorder to my PC/WINDOWS 10 with a USB cord. When I try to import the files from the voice recorder to Audacity, I go to IMPORT - IC RECORDER F DRIVE- FOR WINDOWS - AUDIO - then it shows no files to import, just installs or guides. A user complained that when trying to move a file from the voice recorder to another location, the file disappeared. Thinking it was user error, I logged on to her system and clicked a file in voice recorder, and the file disappeared. I checked the file location (user\documents\sound recordings) and the files that had just been in the recording list and disappeared, were not there. Nothing in recycle bin. There was an unsaved file which we restored but it was not the missing files.

I assumed that the user had moved/deleted the files from the file location earlier or something, so I tested on my system. I could delete a file from the file location and still play the recording on voice recorder. Clicking the file in voice recorder did NOT make the file disappear.

The user was using FILR to access her files remotely. I did a sync there as well as looked at the original destination she was trying to get the files to (and she reported she SAW them there), but they were not there.

I plan on doing a system restore as a last resort.

Anyone seen behavior like this before? Any suggestions?
