ELITE Desk - Fall 2025
In 2016, the Vogel Library's ELITE Team acquired a high-end 3D printer - the Lulzbot TAZ 6. Utilizing 2.85mm filaments and a large build space, this printer can be used for a vast array of 3D printable projects, from small decorative items to fully functional tools and props. It brings a new element of technology education to Wartburg: additive manufacturing.
The TAZ 6 has recently been upgraded with a new toolhead, allowing for increased capability and a longer service life. It resides at the back side of the Circ desk.
In 2024, the ELITE Team acquired a second 3D printer - the LulzBot Mini. With a smaller build plate compared to the TAZ 6, this printer is designated to smaller prints. Having multiple printers at the ELITE desk allows for the team to complete more print jobs at faster rates.
Keeping with the idea of Vogel Library being a "library for the 21st century," the second floor of the Library offered a large quantity of desktop computers for students to use. Much of the open floor space was taken up by 5-station tables with a computer in each station, though traditional open tables were still available.
Since 1999, a number of the computer tables have been taken out and open study tables put in their place. This has been more friendly to students in in groups and those bringing their own laptops in to work on assignments.
As of 2025, the Vogel Library now offers treadmills and a FitDesk for students to use thanks to a generous donation from the Student Senate. This gives patrons the opportunity to study while keeping both their body and mind active.
The Creation Studio gives Graphic Design students and those wanting to work on their own projects access to all of Adobe's products and a space to collaborate in.

In Summer 2025, the games and puzzles section moved to the open study area of the 2nd floor in order to make room for the ELITE Desk upgrade.
In Fall 2025, the Leisure Reading collection got an upgrade with wooden panels. Looks great!
