Tom Pease, director

Tom Pease, a native of Burbank California, received both his BM and MM from USC in music composition. After obtaining his bachelor’s degree, he taught music, most recently at Taft High School where he built an award winning choral program. While a teacher, he wrote three musicals, dozens of video scores, choral and orchestral compositions, band arrangements, and a ballet. In 2015, Mr. Pease left teachig to devote himself fulltime to composition. Since retiring, he has composed works for the Italian piano duo, Biondibrunialti (2Play), and the Alias Brass Company (Gabrieli Dreams). Most recently, he has written music for gymnastics floor routines, for a virtual art gallery, and for VocArte (Dona Nobis Pacem). In addition to composing and conducting, Tom is a photographer specializing in live concert performances and on the advisory board of the NPO, Musicians at Play.

Amelia Mader

Amelia Mader is a vocalist, composer, audio engineer, and producer. She has worked with Grammy Award-winning composer Christopher Tin as a credited music editor for his 2014 album "The Drop That Contained the Sea." Tin invited her to the world premiere at Carnegie Hall where she sang in a choir of 300+ people. Amelia has also had the opportunity to sing with the Irish choral group Anuna,  and perform with members of the retired Medieval ensemble Anonymous 4. Earlier this year, she filmed her first music video which is now available on YouTube. In addition to performing, Amelia has also coached other singers of various ages and styles, most recently for a talent showcase in Hollywood coordinated by L.A. actor Andante Petit-Homme.

Currently, Amelia is the newly appointed Soprano section leader of the Burbank Chorale, and works for a subsidiary company of Downtown Music Publishing.

Wendy Stackhouse

TextWendy Stackhouse earned her Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theater from the University of Minnesota and did her post-graduate work in Voice & Opera at the Mannes College of Music in NYC. She spent many years singing in New York, including in Baroque and contemporary opera productions with Measured Breaths and Jazz with composer Paul Knopf before moving to California to raise a family. She has also recorded the Art Songs of LA composer John Mitchell including Op. 104, 4 Poems by Sylvia Plath. In California, she has also performed with the Pacific Chorale and currently subs in church choirs in the LA area. Wendy also works for Bertrand’s Music, serving Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. In her free time, Wendy is an avid reader of literary and science fiction as well as a knitter and spinner of yarn.

Amity Grimes

Amity Grimes is originally from New York City where she was steeped in the performing arts from infancy.  She fell in love with a capella singing while she was in Nursing School at Georgetown University. She was a member of the Georgetown University Madrigal Singers, The GU singers, American University’s Chorus, and Maryland’s Renaissance Revellers. In 1985, she was invited to join The Paul Hill Chorale (later the Washington Master Chorale) at the Kennedy Center. This is where Amity met VocArte tenor WarrenGrimes. They eventually married, moved to California, and produced VocArte soprano Grace Grimes, as well as Celtic harper Faith Grimes. When Amity isn’t singing, she is active as a registered nurse and is a professor of Parent Education at Glendale Community College. 

Melanie Rockwell

Melanie grew up in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey. There she discovered her love of vocal music through singing in middle school, high school, and church choirs. She also played the flute for 15 years before passing her instrument on to a young family member. Melanie graduated from NYU with a BFA in Acting and pursued her career in NY before turning to the "other" coast in 1996. Retiring from that pursuit in 2002 to raise her son, she joined The Burbank Chorale and has been a member since 2007. Melanie was invited to join VocArte in 2017 by a fellow Chorale member. 



Caroline Bearden

While Caroline first and foremost considers herself a pianist, she is growing to love the art of vocal performance. She studied music at Saint Mary's College of CA in the bay area and was involved in her school's chamber and glee choirs as well as the liturgical choir and jazz band. She is currently involved in the Burbank Chorale as well as Vocarte and enjoys working on Beethoven Sonatas and Rachmaninoff preludes in her spare time. Though she is taking a break from studying music in an academic setting she continues to challenge herself to grow as a musician and aspires to make a career in the way of performing and creating. 






Jess Tsang

Jess began their musical journey on the piano at age 2. After immigrating to Canada, they began playing the yang qin- competing and touring on both instruments for 8 years. Their vocal studies began in high school at the Arts York program, which boasts notable alumni such as Emmanuelle Chriqui and Hayden Christensen. They also sang with the Upper Canada Chorus and toured NYC, England, and Austria. After high school, they studied in the Concurrent Music Education program at Queen’s University. Across their career, they’ve collaborated with artists such as Jodie Benson, Susan Egan, Michael Leopold, Colm Wilkinson, and Rajaton. Outside of music, they are a writer, teacher, former Team Canada quidditch player, and a Co-Director at the Asian American Justice and Innovation Lab.



Tenor

Warren Grimes

Warren Grimes is a professor at the Southwestern Law School where he focuses on antitrust, Supreme Court Jurtisprudence, and the interaction among the branches of the federal government. His work has been published in journals including the Harvard Lar Review, UCLA La Review, Antitrust Law Journal, California Law Review, and Utah Law Review. He sang for the Stanford Glee Club when he was in college.

John Oltean

Originally from Michigan, John moved around the world before settling down in Los Angeles in 2014. He has been playing music and performing since a child, beginning with the piano around the age of 7. Along with his role as a tenor in VocArte, John plays guitar, piano, ukulele, and works on numerous other musical projects. John is an attorney by day, but does his best to find time to play music whenever possible.

Steve McCroskey

Steve McCroskey is a Los Angeles based guitarist/vocalist. Steve, having grown up in a family which maintained careers in the music business, started playing the guitar in his early teens. 

He studied jazz guitar and music theory at the Dick Grove music school in Studio City and Los Angeles Valley College. Steve made a switch in careers and entered the film-music industry where he became a music editor working with many film composers for popular television and feature films. Steve also played violin in the Woodland Strings Quartet and with the San Fernando Valley Orchestra.

Art Danks

Art Danks is a native of Southern California, and recently retired from his full time career in the Credit Card Industry. He  is still actively involved in music as a singer, vocal instructor, and choir director. Art was raised in a musical family, and began singing at the age of 13. Art was a vocal major at CSUN, where he performed in major productions with the Opera Department, as well as sang in the University Chamber Singers. After getting married, Art went into banking as his full time career, but also continued singing, teaching private voice, and conducting church choirs. He is currently the Choir Director at St. Michael Antiochian Orthodox Church in Van Nuys, California.

Tyler Rivera Stein

Tyler Rivera Stein is an award-winning composer and vocalist based in Los Angeles. Through his company Hire Score Media he has composed original musical scores for stage and screen. Some of his credits include the 2018 regional Emmy-award winning short film Deviant, the feature film, Surrender Dorothy available on Amazon Prime, and the Crypt TV web series Research. Tyler earned a degree in vocal performance from NYU Steinhardt. He is a certificated film and music educator for piano and voice, and is currently teaching at Pilgrim School in Koreatown. He has served on the board of Los Angeles non-profits Musicians at Play and worked with Arts for LA to fundraise for low-income music programs around greater Los Angeles.

Cameron Chapman

Cameron Chapman is a co-founder of Bright at Midnight, a small independent game studio dedicated to crafting creative and unique games featuring lived-in worlds full of adventure. He has always had a strong passion for not just video games, but music as well. Now, as a part of VocArte, he gets to share his musical passion with friends and family alike.
