Caldiero Vocal Ensemble
From passion comes harmony
About us
The Cultural Association Vocal Ensemble of Caldiero is dedicated to the dissemination and promotion of music through the organization of concerts, artistic events, and educational activities. Thanks to the passion and enthusiasm of its members, the association aims to promote art and beauty while highlighting the fundamental role of music within the local community. Cultural promotion represents an essential driving force for fostering knowledge and appreciation of the many forms of human expression, creating bridges for dialogue and enriching society with new perspectives.
The Ensemble Vocale di Caldiero was founded in the spring of 2023 at the initiative of a group of friends united by their passion for singing and music. With the conviction that choral experience can improve interpersonal relationships, cultivate a sense of beauty, elevate the spirit, and encourage the formation of new friendships, the group began its activity with the project The Filippine Lauda in 16th-century Rome. This project led to the study and performance of works by Francisco Soto de Langa, Giovanni Animuccia, and Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina. The choir’s activity includes the study of repertoire, vocal technique training — with particular attention to breathing, tone production, and intonation — as well as elements of music theory, such as note reading, and brief introductions to music history in order to place the performed pieces within their proper stylistic context. The choir is composed mainly of people driven by a strong passion for singing, who recognize in choral practice an important motivation for ensemble music-making and artistic sharing.

Musical Director
Gian Paolo Dal Dosso, who holds diplomas in Choral Music and Choir Conducting, Opera Singing, and Vocal Pedagogy from the conservatories of Verona, Trento and Mantua, later further specialized in Baroque singing with Cristina Miatello, beginning an intense concert career particularly focused on early music. He collaborated on the recording of the Weihnachtshistorie by Heinrich Schütz with Cappella Augustana, and of L’Orfeo by Claudio Monteverdi conducted by Sergio Vartolo, both released by the Dutch label Brilliant Classics, as well as St John Passion BWV 245 by Johann Sebastian Bach with the Antiqua Camerata Veneta. He served as Musical Director of the Amici della Musica Choir (2002–2022), with which he participated in festivals in Aix-en-Provence (France, 2004), Les Choralies (Corsica, 2005 and 2014), Valsamoggia (Bologna, 2014), and Musica Sacra Festival (Croatia, 2019). He was also Musical Director of the Choir of the San Zeno Abbey Church in Verona (2009–2014) and of the male vocal octet I Madrigalisti Anonimi (2017–2020). He taught Singing and Choral Conducting at the Scuola Diocesana di Musica Sacra “S. Cecilia” in Verona and at the Accademia d’Arti Discanto, and Choral Practice at the Liceo Musicale “C. Montanari”. Particularly active as a composer and arranger of choral music, he combines his artistic work with that of music critic for the magazine GBOpera.

SONGS TO MARY
International Choral Festival - Verona Garda Summer
From June 26 to July 10, Caldiero will transform into a vibrant cultural crossroads, hosting a highly prestigious musical event featuring some of the finest choirs from across Europe and other parts of the world. The opening event, which will inaugurate the festival, will showcase a double participation from Iceland, a country renowned for its strong choral music tradition: performing will be Samkór Reykjavíkur and Kammerkór Seltjarnarneskirkju, two ensembles of the highest caliber. They will be joined by the young talents of the Cayman Youth Choir from the Cayman Islands, who will bring a fresh and lively energy, further enriching the evening with their clear and vibrant voices. The second event, scheduled for July 3, will be equally rich in charm and variety, with the Czech Republic represented by Pévecký bor Ještéd, while Spain will be represented by Polifónica de Polop “Antonio Berenguer Fuster”. Belgium will present Schola Cantorum Gregoriana Gaudeamus, and opening the evening will be the friends of Chorus di Caldiero, the local choir whose participation highlights the deep connection between the community and this international event. Finally, on July 10, the festival will conclude with performances by the french Choeur d'Hommes du Cercle Choral Dacquois, the south african Cape Town Camerata, the canadian Korora Youth Choir, and the spanish Cor Creixent. This festival not only celebrates the beauty of choral singing, but also represents a moment of encounter and exchange—an opportunity to build bridges between different cultures through the universal language of music.
