Vocal Club – learning about how to sing in a relaxed group environment
As a lifelong home warbler who only joined my first choir not long ago, I rapidly realised that whilst the choir was fun, it could be so much better if I understood more about what I was doing. I had so many questions, why did my throat feel too tight sometimes, what range was I capable of singing, why were others better at breathing than me, to name just a few. I was delighted when the very talented Nikki Gerrard started Vocal Club. I’ve found it an excellent experience. Each week we learn about techniques and tips for achieving things some of us thought we could never do. Nikki presents the info in a fun and informative way explaining not just what to do, but also why we are doing it. There’s nothing to write down, and learning is by putting things into practice as we go along. Everyone is so friendly, no one is singled out, and there is no pressure. I’ve already learnt so much and highly recommend Vocal Club to anyone who wants to understand more about their singing in an affordable way, and without a daunting one-to-one experience.

I’ve been a member of the White Rock Community Choir from day one and enjoyed every minute but always felt I wanted to improve my voice and feel more confident. When Nikki said she was going to run a vocal club I jumped at the opportunity as she is a fabulous coach and full of knowledge in all areas of singing and performing. The vocal club is teaching us everything from breathing techniques to how to hold a note. It’s very affordable and it’s a fab bunch of people that attend. Nikki makes it, not only entertaining, but interesting and informative. I would highly recommend it to anyone who feels they would like to improve their singing ability in a friendly, welcoming but above all inspiring club.
