BELOW YOU WILL FIND RULES THE POLICE MUST FOLLOW AT ALL TIMES.
THIS WEBSITE IS CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION AND IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
A suspect has to be in a surrender position in order to cuff them. This means, you are authorised to cuff a suspect only if they are:
On the floor after a tackle, baton, taser, firearm has been deployed or conducted or if they are knocked out;
They surrendered by placing their hands up or on their knees;
They have consented to an arrest by letting you know they gave up.
You should never cuff a suspect who is running away from you or someone who is not in a surrender position as stated above, as this is powergaming or in other words, combat cuffing giving the suspect no chance to escape.
Officers must not taser or discharge a baton launcher at a suspect who you are on a foot pursuit with without proper reason. Every discharge must be justified and you must roleplay a foot pursuit out properly. Please see below when a taser or baton discharge would be credible:
You are on a foot pursuit with a suspect who is holding a knife in their hand or any other weapon;
This is because the suspect can turn around at any moment and severely injure or kill the officer or person. Therefore, you must subdue the suspect as soon as possible.
Suspect you are chasing on foot has already murdered or attempted to murder a civilian or emergency worker;
Therefore they are an immediate threat and must be taken into custody as soon as possible as anyone in their way can be a target.
You have undergone a foot pursuit and they are about to jump into an assisting vehicle to escape;
A taser or baton launcher is authorised in this situation as you have appropriately roleplayed out a foot pursuit.
You cannot taser someone off a high point. This includes off a roof, off a ladder, and so on. Common sense must be utilised in this situation.
When tasering someone off a high point the suspect is immobilised for a couple of seconds which could lead to serious injury or even death. Officers who taser someone that's on a high point will have to bear responsibility and justify their actions taken. This includes any lawsuits brought against the officer responsible.
Officers are not authorised to go corrupt without going through the process. If you wish to go corrupt, you must do the following:
Open a ticket in our discord under general support;
Your history will be checked by a member of staff to understand whether you are eligible to go forward with corruption;
Provide an excellent corrupt storyline and how long you are planning on doing this.
It's a short but detailed process to ensure officers that go corrupt do it mainly for storyline purposes and not win hunger to receive a lot of cash and weapons. This is a serious storyline and cannot be abused.
Officers who are members of the following cannot be corrupt under any circumstance:
Professional Standards Department;
Command;
Criminal Investigations Department;
IOPC;
Police Federation.
While roleplaying as a police officer on Vanity Network, you are required to abide by the following rules or punishments may be issued. Police can only shoot car tyres if the occupants inside have shot at police while out or inside the vehicle, or purposely ran a police officer over, or have murdered someone to your visibility. You must utilise spike strips for anything else, it's what they're there for.
Police are required to go by the 'class for class' rule. This means that police must use the same level of firearm as a criminal is using unless a formal operation is going ahead or the officer is outnumbered by 3 or more people. A few examples are below:
Criminal has lethal melee - Police may use up to Class 3
Criminal has a class 1 - Police may use a class 1
Criminal has a class 2 - Police may use a class 2
Criminal has a class 3 - Police may use a class 3
Criminals are surrounding an armed officer and they have no other officer near them, they may pull out a class 2 or class 3 to protect themselves when outnumbered by 1+ people. Ratio 2:1 authorises a higher class.Â
If a police officer is completely killed (STAGE 2) during a shootout, they cannot get back involved in the same scene when they respawn, this includes if panic buttons go or officers are asking for assistance. You must situate yourself to another radio and deal with something else.
In-line with the police radar rule, gangs that are equipped with heavy arsenal and are known to the police - the police are authorised to utilise their highest class available and the class matching rule does not apply in this case.
