Band Classes

Beginning Band

Beginning Band is the entry level of band offered at Venice Middle School. Students will learn and review the basics of how music works and then learn all about the different instruments that they will get to learn while in this class.

Once we have met all of the instruments, students get to test them out and decide which instrument they wish to learn!

Veteran band students have the opportunity to repeat Beginning Band to learn a new instrument!

Concert Band

Concert Band is the intermediate level of band offered at Venice Middle School. At least one year of playing experience is needed in order to be a member of this ensemble. Students will refine and continue learning their instrument and musical skills in order to progress into wind ensemble or high school band.

Wind Ensemble

Wind Ensemble is the top level band offered at Venice Middle School. At least one year of playing experience is needed in order to be a member of this ensemble. The students are selected for this ensemble based on their playing ability.

Students will refine and continue learning their instrument and musical skills in order to progress into 8th grade or high school band.

Jazz Band

Jazz Band is an after school ensemble which focuses on the American style of music known as Jazz! After completing at least one full year of band, students are selected by Mr. Ackroyd to perform in this exciting ensemble! This ensemble will also help students prepare for Jazz band in high school.
