- Connect the equipment to power supply
- Regulate the heat input to the heater by slowly rotating the dimmer stat and adjust the voltage to 50 V (say).
- Start the cooling water supply to the cooling jacket and set (nominal) the flow rate of cooling water.
- Measure the water flow rate of water by collecting some predetermined volume of water in a measuring flask and note down the duration for the same.
- Allow sufficient time for the setup to reach a steady state.
- Note down the temperature readings of seven different thermocouples by operating the thermocouple selector switch and tabulate the readings.
- Plot the graph of specimen (surface temperature) T vs. x (the axial distance) and obtain the slope.
