Heat Transfer Lab

About the Lab

Heat transfer laboratory (10MEL67/15MEL67) is a part of the mechanical engineering curriculum and is offered as a core course in the 6th semester.

The lab deals with experimental investigations of conduction, convection and radiation heat transfer and some applications of heat transfer. The objectives of the course are listed below:

  1. To introduce the students to the concepts of heat transfer through laboratory assignments.
  2. To conduct experiments on steady and transient state heat transfer.
  3. To perform experiments on heat convection due to external and internal fluid flow.
  4. To perform experiments on radiation heat transfer and heat transfer applications including heat exchangers, refrigeration and air conditioning.
  5. To solve heat transfer problems using numerical methods.
