PROCEDURE:
- Wrap the graph sheet on to the drum. And the stylus is adjusted so that the tip just touches the graph sheet.
- Measure the free length of the spring.
- Attach a known weight to the bottom end of the shaft.
- Switch on the motor to run the drum.
- Gently pull the shaft to induce free vibrations (Longitudinal).
- Measure the displacement (y) from the graph.
- Calculate the natural frequency of the spring mass system and compare with the theoretical natural frequency.
- Find the percentage of error.
- Repeat the experiment for different known weights.
