Entering and Beginning Class
Enter quietly with all required materials and go directly to your assigned seat.
Materials for class will be listed on the board.
Place book bags and personal items under your table to keep walkways clear.
First Tasks in Class
Homeroom: Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) immediately you enter the classroom. If no activity is listed on the board after 8.30 am, work on ALEKS, IXL, or unfinished classwork until dismissal time to essentials at 8:57 am.
Math: Begin Spiral Review Warm-Ups immediately after sitting down. Spiral review is done daily. The spiral review will be posted daily on Google Classroom and will be completed on Google Forms. The timestamp is very important, ensure you turn in your responses within 5 minutes after class begins. Every 8th Day when a Cycle Ends, you will take a quiz over the week’s review questions for a minor grade.
Passes: Restroom and Nurse
Always ask before leaving for the restroom or nurse. Try not to interrupt my lesson when I am giving instructions, or conducting a lesson. The best time to ask to use the restroom is during independent practice.
Use SmartPass in Backpack to log your pass. Begin the pass before leaving and end it upon return.
Try not to leave during direct instruction—independent work time is best for restroom breaks. Note: No Restroom passes will be approved 10 minutes into the lesson and 10 minutes to the end of the period.
Behavior
Technology Use
Food and Drinks
Only water is allowed in class.
Bottles must have a spill-proof lid.
Water bottles must be placed on the floor, not on desks or near Chromebooks.
No glass containers.
Students are responsible for cleaning up all spills and trash—continued privilege depends on it.
Classroom Phone
Moving as a Class / In the Hallways
When leaving as a class: move silently, single-file, right shoulder to the wall.
Lunch: Walk silently, single-file to the cafeteria. Sit with your 5th period class. Lunch detention: report to the designated area; no talking. Restroom use at lunch requires the approval from the teachers’ table.
Shared Learning Zone (Hallway): Move quietly on the right side of the hall—learning is happening in nearby classrooms. Do not run on the Hallway!
Submitting Work
Label all assignments with name, date, and class period.
Turn in paperwork when the work is due.
Makeup Work: Due within 5 days of return from an excused absence. It is your responsibility to ask for missed work. Completed work should be turned in to the teacher. For digital work, email the teacher once submitted.
Tests and Assessments
During tests: no talking, no notes, no passing papers.
Talking or note passing = cheating (results in GFA + parent contact).
If announced, tests are due the day you return from absence.
Retake Policy: No retakes on minor assessments. Retakes allowed for major assessments (highest grade counts). Students must notify the teacher within one week of grades being posted. Retakes scheduled during class and in a designated place.
Other Policies
Tardy: You are tardy if not seated before the teacher closes the door. Tardies follow the behavior matrix.
Toys/Fidget Spinners: Not permitted. If seen, the teacher will collect them. Repeat incidents = further consequences.
Trash: Everyone is responsible for keeping the classroom clean. Use trash cans.
Visitors: Remain on task and quiet when visitors enter—no talking or moving around.
