ELECTION RESULTS UPDATE: The absentee ballot count did not change the standings for my race, so I will NOT have a spot on the Town Board. (I needed to make up a 24 vote deficit, but the absentee count only added 14 votes, leaving me 10 votes behind.)
Incumbent Democrat Peter DiSclafani, and Republican Kyle Steen will fill the two vacant Town Board slots.
Absentee ballot count did not change the other standings: Brian Powers lost to Rob Stanley by a slim margin, and Kathy Nolan lost to John Parete by a few votes as well. The final numbers have yet to be posted, as the BOE is still counting absentee and provisional ballots for Dave Clegg's race (tied with Dave ahead by 3 votes on election day!) The Phoenicia Library proposition passed, 635 to 402!
I want to thank all of you who supported and encouraged my campaign, and I will continue to work for Shandaken-- the best place on earth!
I'm Vivian Welton, and I am pleased to be your candidate for Town Board in Shandaken, NY.
There are resources that can be mobilized to improve our town’s infrastructure, and we intend to do everything in our power to offset the costs to taxpayers.
We will encourage local economic enterprise, explore housing solutions, and work with the community to improve and preserve the beauty of our area, and our quality of life!
For Shandaken Town Supervisor: Brian Powers brings vision, energy, and common sense, with a deep understanding of Shandaken’s needs and how to lead us to prosperity. Shandaken deserves a change!
For Shandaken Town Board: Peter DiSclafani brings years of experience, both as current Town Board member, and previous Town Supervisor. He has invaluable knowledge of how the Town operates, and will help guide the team to cut out waste and inefficiency, without cutting vital services!
For County Legislator (District 22): Our own Kathy Nolan represents our Shandaken interests at the County level. Re-elect her to continue her leadership on environmental and economic issues!
For Ulster County District Attorney: Dave Clegg brings many years serving the needy in our area, both as an Attorney and community organizer! We need a District Attorney that will put the people first!
