 a multidisciplinary artist.

Vi Garibay is a multidisciplinary artist born in California and raised in Texas. Garibay works predominantly with acrylic paint, spray paint, and oil pastels to convey the emotions felt while creating their whimsical works. Garibay had the privilege of studying under the late artist Floyd Newsum while enrolled in the University of Houston-Downtown. Often taking inspiration from their colorful dreams, Vi Garibay has contributed their take on the constant struggle with one’s mental health through their ongoing practice. Outside of the studio, Garibay can be found taking film photos, working with clay, and thinking of new ways to combine different media.
