Course Objectives:

To learn:

1. Basic concepts of Microwave active and passive devices.

2. Transmission characteristic of microwave through waveguide and microstrip line.

3. Measurement of microwave parameters.

Course Outcomes:

At the end of the course students will be able to:

1. Describe common devices such as microwave vacuum tubes, microwave semiconductor diodes, waveguide components, resonators and ferrite devices.

2. Apply electromagnetic theory to calculations regarding waveguides and transmission lines.

3. Analyze various waveguide components viz. E-Plane Tee, H-plane Tee, Magic Tee, Circulator, Isolator etc. using scattering parameters.

4. Handle microwave equipment and make microwave measurements.
