Dr. Vivek Verma is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Patna. Prior to this, he served as a Post-doctoral Project Scientist in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Delhi.

He received his B.Tech. in 2017 (with first division and distinction) and Ph.D. in 2023, both from the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, IIT Roorkee. His research is dedicated to the design and development of orthopaedic implants, with a specific focus on integrating biomechanical and mechanobiological principles related to bone remodeling.

During PhD, he worked on the design and development of Mg-based materials for resorbable internal fracture fixation devices. Specifically, it included the computational and experimental work towards tailoring mechanical, degradation (for resorbability) and biocompatible behaviour of potential Mg-based alloys/composites for internal fracture fixation. In his previous role at IIT Delhi, he was engaged in design and biomechanical assessment of patient-specific mandibular implants, with specific emphasis on the unique characteristics of the Indian population.
