Plant Foods for Human Nutrition December 19, 2024
Due to increasing consumer awareness, there is a growing demand for healthy foods by replacing synthetic colorants with natural alternatives. Amaranthus is a sustainable rich source of one such natural colorant, namely, betalains. Conventional extraction methods have various challenges, such as high solvent requirements and low extraction yield.

Macroalgal biomass, a valuable source of bioactive compounds, is highly perishable in its wet form. Drying helps in the extension of its shelf life. However, conventional wisdom indicates that drying increases the mass transfer resistance, making extraction of biomolecules from dry biomass more difficult. The present study is aimed at developing the most suitable method for the primary extraction of R- Phycoerythrin (R-PE) from dry biomass of Gracilaria corticata.
Bioactive Compounds and Nutraceuticals from Plant Source July 05, 2024
The plantation crops such as tea, coffee, cocoa, coconut, palm oil (PO), sugarcane, etc., are abundant sources of bioactive compounds. Epidemiological studies have found that consumption of plantation crops have effect on anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, antioxidant, and lipid profile regulator for human health.

The purpose of the study was to determine the effects of starch-natural deep eutectic solvents (NADES) coating on the physicochemical characteristics of strawberries during storage. The findings indicated that starch-NADES would be a promising coating substance for perishable fruit, such as strawberries, as it could prolong the ripening process by up to 18 days when stored at 20 °C.

Food Packaging and Shelf Life July 13, 2022
The aim of the current research was to fabricate and characterize the anthocyanin- natural deep eutectic solvent (NADES) incorporated polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) based edible pH-sensitive films. Further the effectiveness of anthocyanin-NADES on the functional, structural, mechanical, and barrier properties of PVOH films has been investigated.

The present study was aimed to establish a green extraction method for anthocyanins from black rice bran using natural deep eutectic solvents (NADES) coupled with ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE). Initially, five NADES were used and lactic acid: fructose was screened as efficient extractant for anthocyanin from black rice bran.

This work aimed to use natural deep eutectic solvents to modify the thermal, textural, freeze-thaw, and rheological properties of high amylose rice starch. Three different natural deep eutectic solvents (NADES) composed of sugar and organic acids were applied to modify the properties of starch dispersion.
