This Privacy Policy describes how PDF Summarizer ("we", "us", "our", or the "App") collects, uses, stores, and shares your information when you use our application.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.
When you summarize a document or chat with it, the document text is securely transmitted to OpenRouter, which routes your request to the selected AI model to generate summaries and responses.
We do not permanently store your uploaded document files on our servers. Your original document files remain on your device unless you choose to share them elsewhere.
Please avoid uploading documents containing highly sensitive, confidential, or personally identifiable information.
If you choose to create an account or sign in, we collect information such as your email address and authentication credentials through Firebase Authentication and/or Supabase.
Creating an account is optional. You can use the App's core features without signing in.
Your generated summaries and chat history are stored locally on your device.
If you are signed in, your summaries and chat history are synchronized to and stored securely in our Supabase database so they can be accessed across your devices.
Only summaries, chat history, and related account data are stored in Supabase. Your original uploaded document files are not stored on our servers.
We use analytics services to understand how the App is used, improve performance, fix bugs, and develop new features.

When you submit a document for summarization or chat, the document text is securely sent to OpenRouter, which routes your request to the selected AI model.
The handling, retention, and processing of your submitted content by downstream AI providers are governed by the privacy policies of OpenRouter and the respective AI model providers.
We do not control how third-party AI providers process submitted content.
Please avoid uploading documents containing confidential, sensitive, financial, medical, or personally identifiable information.
Your original document files remain on your device.
Locally stored summaries and chat history remain until you delete them or uninstall the App.
If you are signed in:

are securely stored in Supabase until:
you delete them,
you delete your account, or
you request deletion.
Uploaded document files are not stored in Supabase or on our servers.
Analytics and diagnostic data are retained according to the retention policies of Firebase and PostHog.
We do not sell your personal information.

With the third-party service providers listed above as necessary to operate the App.
To comply with legal obligations, court orders, or lawful governmental requests.
To protect the rights, safety, property, or security of our users or others.
In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets. If this occurs, you will be notified where required by law.
Depending on your location and applicable laws, you may have the right to:

Delete your personal information.

Opt out of personalized advertising through your device's advertising settings.

Some information may be retained if required for legal, security, fraud prevention, or regulatory compliance purposes.
You can manage your privacy preferences within the App.
Navigate to:
Settings → Privacy
From there, you can disable analytics collection.
Advertising preferences may also be managed through your device's advertising settings.
The App is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction).
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can promptly remove the information.
We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including:
Encryption of data in transit
Secure authentication
Industry-standard security practices
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
Any changes will be reflected by updating the Last Updated date at the top of this page.
