I was born in Mutum, a small town in the countryside of Minas Gerais, Brazil, and grew up between the town and the rural area of Ponte Alta, where my family still lives.
At 15, I moved to Vitória, the capital of Espírito Santo, to attend high school. Five years later, I moved to the United States to begin my studies at Stetson University in Florida. In 2022, I transferred to Pitzer College in California, where I earned a BA in Linguistics with a minor in Spanish.
Throughout my undergraduate years, I also lived in Boston (MA), where I conducted research, and in Seoul, South Korea, where I completed a semester exchange program.
I have also lived in Porto Velho, Rondônia (in the Brazilian Amazon), where I conducted fieldwork. I’m currently based in New York City, pursuing my PhD in Linguistics.
In my free time, I love traveling, stargazing (though not so much in New York City), and playing music—whether on the clarinet, ukulele, or my vocal cords. I also enjoy creating social media content to guide Brazilian students in their journey to pursue opportunities abroad.
