The Challenge Schools are complicated, and it is a challenge for school leaders to align resources and programs in a way that is coherent and can be communicated to students, teachers, families, and systems of accountability. How? Vital Schools can tailor facilitation for administrators, teachers, and partners to reflect on their own experience and the experience of students in their school, to develop a school’s Instructional Philosophy and related documents, and professional development and parent meetings to ensure everyone understands the school’s Instructional Philosophy and the implications for their work.
Instructional Coherence Workshops
Vital Schools welcomes schools to begin the process in these workshops. Teams will walk away with a shared understanding of the value of articulating a school’s Instructional Philosophy and the core elements of their particular school’s Instructional Philosophy. Vital Schools can then provide differentiated support as needed to ensure schools have a strategic plan to introduce this back in their community, the necessary documents, and professional development and parent engagement necessary to ensure understanding is broad and practices are effective.
Who We encourage Principals to bring a small team of school leaders. This may include Assistant Principals, teacher leaders, parent representatives, and/or leadership of CBO partners.
Ideally teams are between 3 and 5 people. More importantly, the team needs to be large enough that they have broad confidence from the school community when you bring the work back to the building.
