My program have some memory issues, so I have to reboot frequently. After the last reboot, one of my header files has been corrupted automatically, and can be opened now only by notepad (even from the internal environment of Visual Studio, while debuuging (it only shows me only the assembly code) or when I go to this file's folder and do "Open with Visual Studio", its still notepad that opens it).

If Visual Studio is not able to recognise the encoding of the file, which will generally be the case if the file has become corrupted (in my case due to a power failure), it will default to using notepad to open the file.

If you go into Tools > Options > Text Editor > File Extension, do you have anything in here that is mapped to notepad? If so remove that and it should clear it up. Also, if you have an XML file in a project, you can right click on it, choose Open With and choose your default editor there.

Notepad++ will not provides you with intellisense nor code completion for any OneStream specific class. Using notepad++ for writing OneStream business rules online rather than the included code editor will be harder for sure. If your objective is to be able to write OneStream business rules offline I'd rather install visual studio community edition and add OneStream dlls as references instead

Notepad++ comes in both portable and installer versions, but I prefer to use the installer because it automatically adds an Edit with Notepad++ option to the right-click file context menu. However, either version will work. After building notepad++.exe from source, just overwrite whichever version has been installed with the new executable.

Copy the newly created version of notepad++.exe from one of the build output folders into C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++ to overwrite the previously installed version.

This is the one I created a while ago: community.appian.com/.../notepad-user-defined-language-for-appian

It's not so much a plugin for notepad as a User-defined Language. What would be very useful is a plugin that will auto-format the SAIL... Maybe I'll write that sometime, unless someone gets there before me! :)

I keep trying to open the .rdl file i have to take a look at some of the .xml and i know note pad works just fine, but i don't know why it all of a sudden opens in notepad instead of in bids like it used to. I know you don't exactly know my computer's file system very well, but i figure on install the files and folders for Microsoft SQL Server and pretty much the same. So i was wondering what the path is to open in MS Visual Studio 9.0 when you right click the .rdl and hit open with and go to browse. ff782bc1db
