General AmeriCorps Information
AmeriCorps is a national service program where individuals serve with organizations to address critical community needs. AmeriCorps is often compared to the Peace Corps as its domestic counterpart. For more information, please visit the AmeriCorps website at www.americorps.gov.
The AmeriCorps living allowance is the financial support provided to service members during their year of service. It is not an hourly wage, but a stipend provided to all national service members.
AmeriCorps members receive an education award upon successful completion of their term of service. The education award can be used to repay qualified student loans or for future education expenses. Additionally, AmeriCorps members may postpone their federal student loan payments during the term of service. Member Training and Development
Training for the 2022-2023 Serve Philadelphia VISTA Corps begins July 18th, 2022.
The orientation for the Serve Philadelphia VISTA Program is a time for incoming Corps members to get to know each other, learn about the program, and engage in critical discussions in preparation for service. It is expected that all members will be present during the duration of orientation week.

The Serve Philadelphia VISTA Program Office provides support and training for VISTA Corps Members throughout their service term. We host professional development and team building opportunities every month, including 1:1 check-ins every quarter.
