Vista Reimagined is a home-screen launcher. This policy describes what data the app accesses on your device and how it is used.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not collect any data from your device onto our servers. The only data that leaves your device is the Weather widget's location (see below), which is sent directly to Open-Meteo over HTTPS to fetch a forecast and is not stored or shared with anyone else. All other data used by the app stays on your device.
Location (approximate / precise, optional): used only by the Weather desktop widget to look up local weather from the free Open-Meteo API. The location is used on-device to form a single weather request, then sent to Open-Meteo over HTTPS to fetch the forecast. It is not stored, not sent to us, and not shared with any other party. You can deny location and the widget simply won't show weather.
Calendar (read, optional): used only by the Calendar desktop widget to list your next upcoming events on the home screen. Calendar data is read on-device and never leaves the device.
Accessibility service (optional): used for three optional launcher conveniences: (1) as a fallback to open the system notification shade when you swipe down on the desktop, on devices where the standard system call is blocked; (2) to show the power menu from the Start menu's Power shortcut; and (3) to lock the screen when you double-tap an empty area of the desktop. The service performs only these three global actions. It reads no screen content, reads no text or personal data, performs no other gestures, and collects or shares nothing. Everything stays on your device. Enabling it is optional; if you skip it, the launcher still works and only those three gestures are unavailable on some devices.
Query all packages: required for a launcher to display your installed apps in the Start menu / app drawer, to auto-detect default apps (clock, calendar, calculator, etc.), and to resolve app icons. Only app labels, package names, and icons are read, on-device.
Set wallpaper: applies your chosen wallpaper to the system.
Display over other apps (optional): used only to animate apps opening from their icons; can be denied with no loss of core function.
Internet: used by the Weather widget to fetch a forecast from Open-Meteo. No other network use.
Open-Meteo (https://open-meteo.com): public weather API. The Weather widget sends an approximate or precise location and receives weather data over HTTPS; no personal data is sent. Subject to Open-Meteo's own terms.
All preferences (wallpaper choice, dock layout, icon overrides, default-app choices) are stored locally on your device and backed up only via Android's standard app-data backup if you have it enabled.
The app is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect any data from anyone.
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
