Hands-on experiences, like visiting a post office, help students grasp the real-world function of the postal system beyond electronic communication.
It was a remarkable and memorable day for the students of Grade 1 of Nazareth School, Chandapura as they visited the Post Office at Anekal on the 15th of October 2025, accompanied by their class teachers.
The students received a warm welcome by the staff of the post office, and they visited the Postmaster’s office, where they learned about the responsibilities of the Postmaster and the duties of other staff members working in the post office.
They were also shown how letters and parcels are processed by scanning barcodes and sorting them for dispatch. In the storeroom, the students observed different types of letters, stamps, and postcards. They were fascinated to learn how, in earlier days, communication took place through handwritten letters and postcards, which were posted in post boxes, collected by postal carriers, and sorted before being delivered to the receivers.
The young learners showed great curiosity, asking questions enthusiastically and learning many new things. Before leaving, they met the postal carriers - their 'community helpers' and expressed gratitude for their dedicated service.
The visit concluded with a cheerful photo session capturing this joyful learning experience. The students returned to school singing happily, appreciating the valuable work done by the postal staff.
