This YouTube video features a presentation video. The presenter is represented by an avatar, explaining the lesson. Another feature in this video is the animation of the handwriting.
I am planning to use this type of instructional videos because of the different features. First, I like to use the avatar: it will attract the students since it is animated; it can also be colorful. I will include my audio narration. For me, as a teacher, I would prefer to use the avatar to teach. Otherwise, I won’t concentrate on the teaching if I videotape myself. Second, since I will be most likely teaching about a French cultural fact or French vocabulary words or phrases, this type of instructional video will be very effective for students. There will be lots of visuals, animations, and videos. Finally, I was always attracted by the feature of the hand writing. As a student, it makes me concentrate on the content, especially when the written words serve the objectives of the lesson.
I was always amazed by these types of instructional videos whenever I use them in my teaching. It will be a real challenge for me to make them, but I am looking forward to it.
