Medlab and Isolab

You just walked into Medlab 1, where you run into Dr Stephen Franklin, the Chief Medical Officer of Babylon 5.  Doctor Franklin is a brilliant physician and Xenobiologist, who has pioneered many new medical procedures, based on alien medicine.  He is always under pressure and tends to snap when bothered by trivial requests.

Medlab Emergency

Is this a medical emergency?  Because I've got an alien lifeform in trauma here in the Isolab; and we're still trying to determine what atmosphere she or he needs to breathe.  Can you make this quick?   You want to visit Medlab? Sure, but don't bother me about it, just come along and talk to one of the junior doctors.

Xenobiology

Can you make this quick?  I'm trying to save the life of a Pak'ma'ra here and we're having difficulty with the bloodwork.  There's some kind of cell degeneration, like Parkinson's disease, but with the Pak'ma'ra it's the green cells that produce the neurotransmitters, whereas with the Markab, we discovered it was the yellow cells that did this.   Yeah, I did major in Xenobiology.  I swore an oath to protect the sanctity of all life.

Isolab Environment

Look, you can see that there's some kind of operation in progress, behind a sealed screen.   This is the Isolab, where different alien species can be treated, in their own preferred atmospheric environment, without danger of spreading contagion from one species to another.   You better not go in there without a Hazmat suit!

Biotechnology

You know what?  Last week, we found smugglers had brought in some alien technology from a long-dead race, that tried to bond with one of the cargo handlers.  When we scanned it, we found that the device worked on biological principals!  There's so much that we don't understand.  It's a never-ending mission to find out what's out there.

IPX - that's Interplanetary Expeditions - think that we could jumpstart fantastic new technology by harnessing old alien artefacts.  But I say be careful what you wish for!
