MACAL used to be ruled by a greedy monarchy. Life for the common people was harsh and joyless. The country was hit by poverty and sickness. One virus, called Agressia-25, which mainly affected older people, caused great suffering. Many elderly citizens were moved to an isolated part of MACAL. During these hard times, a group of women scientists took control to improve life for everyone. Since then, MACAL has become a democracy and a country led by feminist ideas.
