About Our Practice

Opportunity: Many individuals struggle to cope with the demands of life and often neglect mental health as it may be deemed secondary to the sustainability of physical needs. Moreover, many Americans find that when presented with crisis or symptoms associated with mental illness they are ill-equipped to manage.

Mission: Vision, Hope & Healing LLC. (VHH) employs professional counseling techniques to assist women, men and children in the process of healing (from) & coping (with) various issues of life. To do so (VHH) will simultaneously correct cognitive distortions and restore hope; using a well-defined client-centered treatment plan.

Solution: This service uniquely provides a safe space that fosters respect and dignity while remaining attuned to cultural sensitivities. (VHH) is not concerned with procuring a large influx of clients and instead devotes it’s efforts to ensuring a good fit between client and provider by conducting a thorough phone assessment. After which, (VHH) invites each client to partner with the therapist in the process of healing.

Meet our therapist


  1. Dr. Teressa Bowman is a licensed professional counselor, DMV native, mother of two and owner of (VHH); a private therapy practice dedicated to improving the mental health of women, men, adolescents and couples. She has earned a B.S. in Psychology (UMUC, 2010), an M.A in Professional Counseling (LU, 2013) and Doctorate of Psychology (UoR, 2020). Dr. Bowman has worked as a community support worker and mental health liaison for over ten years in the DC metropolitan area. She combines evidence-based practices with tailored therapeutic interventions to guide individuals away from mental road blocks and toward success. Dr. Bowman dedicated her doctoral research to gaining a better understanding of suicidal tendencies among young women and notes a particular passion for helping women of color. Dr. Bowman is licensed by the boards of Virginia, DC & Maryland. She has spoken for the National Alliance of Mental Illness and the Northern Virginia Society of Licensed Professional Counselors. Dr. Bowman firmly believes that it is both irresponsible and unethical to ignore our mental health, as we are the pillars of our communities and backbones of our families. No longer shall we neglect our physical, spiritual and mental needs.

  2. Ms. Imani Carter is a Bowie State University graduate (2019), mother and a pre-licensed professional serving clients in the DC area by virtual appointment. She is currently under supervision at Vision, Hope and Healing LLC . "As a DMV native, I understand the unique stressors that we face and I look forward to assisting you in your journey. Thank you for prioritizing your mental health".

  3. Ms. Adrian Holmes Ms. Holmes has experience working with individuals who are dealing with severe mental illness, addiction, trauma, depression and anxiety. She started working for her local Community Service Board (CSB) on the crisis unit. Later, she branched out to working in community and residential settings with individuals coming out of inpatient treatment. "I take a person-centered, culturally competent approach to my work. I am currently a resident in counseling taking on new clients".

  4. Mrs. Iesha Rosenboro Iesha Rosenboro, MA, LGPC is the founder of Hope Esperanza Restoration and Empowerment Center and President, Founder of First Generation World Changers, LLC. She received a M.A in Counseling with a sub-specialty in Eclectic Counseling from Bowie State University. Iesha Rosenboro has worked in many clinical settings; including rehabilitation centers, shelters and urban schools. Iesha has received her certification in Trauma Recovery and has additional training working with women in groups.

  1. Mrs. Dwyana Smithen-Lewis Dwyana completed her bachelor’s degree in Human Services at Columbia College and her Master of Art in Human Services with a Cognate in Life Coaching. After 2 years or working with different populations and realizing where her passion was, Dwyana decided to return to school and complete a Clinical accredited by CACREP Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University.She is currently a LMHP-R Dwyana was Dwyana’s is experienced working in the following areas:

Dwyana is passionate about taking an integrative holistic approach using Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused brief therapy. Person-centered, Psycho-Education and Motivational Interviewing (MI) ensuring that each client receives personalized, collaborate approach unique.


Dwyana comes from a military background, she served in the United States Navy for 10 years before being Honorably Discharged. Dwyana enjoys working with both military and civilian clients. Dwyana believes that life, like therapy is about pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone. She also beleives that embracing growth and learning new things help to develop new behaviors and patterns that ultimately makes an individual the best version of themselves.

6.Shakkira Simmonds LCSW -Ms. Simmonds is a graduate of Florida International University with over 12 years of expereince . She is a locensed social worker in the states of Virginia , North Carolina and the District of Columbia . When asked to discuss her passion for mental health Mrs. Simmonds notes the following; "My passion is to provide a trusting, safe supportive and therapeutic environment for you while you recover and heal from the challenges of life. Let's talk about self-care and regaining who you are. Taking time to process your thoughts and feelings while moving forward with support can provide the relief you want."

"I approach each client uniquely using solution focused and strength based therapies in a no judgment atmosphere of honesty. Throughout my career, I have been honored to be trusted to strengthen lives by creating paths to growth, facilitate healing and encouraging all to be their authentic self." Ms. Simmonds is an expert in pre-post natal , Womens Issues, Crisis intervention, Anxiety and Depression.

(VHH) is physically located in the state of Virginia, yet accepts clients residing in DC,MD ad VA for virtual enrollment. VHH accepts most major health insurance plans and private pay using check, cash transfer or credit card. VHH conducts all sessions virtually; making enrollment and intake convenient from the comfort of your home. (VHH) desires a diverse clientele that appreciates quality service, respect and dignity.

Remote sessions are convenient for individuals and families with demanding schedules. Small client to therapist ratio nurture a personal experience that defies big corporations.


  • We offer the following services: Individual Sessions, Group sessions, Couples Sessions, Supplemental Material, Peer Consultation, Clinical supervision & Virtual Conference.

  • We use the following technology to meet your needs: EHR platform Simple Practice, Advertisement listing Psychology Today & Video conference platform (ZOOM conference).

  • Pricing & Payment Options: (Private pay rate)$125-$150 per session. Sessions are 45-53 min in length .
