Post-Doctoral Position (via Institute):

You must have a background in Electronics & Communication / Electrical / Computer Engineering for your application to be considered by our Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering (E&ECE) department (and by me!). Doctoral Position (via Institute):

Choose Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering (E&ECE) as the department. If you are called (physically) for the selection process, you will have to provide 'Vision and Intelligent Systems (VIS)' as your preferred specialization among the options given. Selection for the interview is usually based on a written test, which assesses your knowledge in engineering mathematics and fundamentals of subjects related to the specialization. You may encounter a few GATE-type questions related to the basics of VIS specialization (like Probability and Random Processes, Signals & Systems, etc.) and may also be tested in coding skills, programming logic and analytical reasoning. While applying:

• "Ph.D with Individual Fellowship" must be your preferred option. This allows you to choose your supervisor (me!) and also the precise area of work. You also get a contingency fund and more. To avail this option you will have to secure the fellowship first. To my knowledge, these are your options:

  • Inspire Fellowship under Assured Opportunity for Research Careers (AORC) - https://online-inspire.gov.in/Account/INSPIREProgramme

• "Ph.D with Institute Assistantship" option can be readily availed. But you may not have the freedom to choose your supervisor even after acceptance to the department's Ph.D program.

• "Ph.D through sponsored research projects" option can be availed if you are already a research fellow in a sponsored research project where your supervisor (me!) is one of the official investigators.

Alternatively,  choose The Centre for Excellence in Artificial Intelligence (CoEAI) as the department.  While applying the "Ph.D with Institute Assistantship" option must be chosen. If you are selected and if you wish, you may get the opportunity to work with me in collaboration with another eminent faculty member of our institute.
