I, Vishal Srivastava, working as a research scholar in the Department of Design at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IITD) under the Prime Minister Research Fellowship (PMRF) scheme. My research is primarily in the area of Designing framework for sustainability assessment and development of sustainable materials for packaging application. My research interests include sustainable packaging design, biodegradable biocomposites and agriculture waste reinforced biocomposite.
Prior to joining the PMRF, I worked as a Junior Research Fellow in the Department of Textile Technology at IITD. I developed a model that can create auxetic yarn. I studied the auxetic structures and materials that have potential use in technical textile applications.
I did my post-graduation in Textile Engineering in the department of Textile and Fiber Engineering at IIT Delhi. My main research focus was on designing and developing nonwoven material for bio-filtration applications, and consequently, I designed and developed a highly efficient surface-modified non-woven material.
I did my bachelor’s in Textile Engineering from Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar (NITJ). My bachelor’s project was on studying the pressure exerted by the different material compositions of undergarments on the human body, which planted the seeds of fascination towards textile engineering.
