Bio- David was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He trained at Arun's Tennis Academy as well as Saddlebrook Academy in Clearwater, Florida. He attended University Preparatory High School in Chagrin Falls on a scholarship, where a solid academic, character, and athletic foundation was engrained. After winning the Ohio State singles title his senior year (the first in University School history), he obtained a full scholarship to The University of Michigan as a top 10 USTA-Ranked player. David played # 1 singles and co-captained the team in his Junior and Senior years. While at Michigan, he was an Academic All-Big Ten Recipient, played the #2 and #3 singles spot on the 1996 Big Ten Team Championship team, and was crowned a gold ball recipient as the National Amateur Champion in 1996.
After a brief stint on the ATP tour, David began his coaching and teaching career. With 28 years of experience, he coached and mentored several Full D1 scholarship athletes and State, National, and NCAA champions (Nicole Gibbs, Clay Thompson, D. J Spice, Stephen and David Rozek, Lauren Davis, Tommy Marx, Kyle McPhillips, Kara Cecil, Sabrina Jetli, and Brooke Bolender). Additionally, he worked as a hitting professional for several WTA and ATP tennis professionals at The Paradzik Institute of Tennis, The Riviera Country Club, and The Stub Hub Center in Carson at the USTA National Training Center.
David graduated from The University of Michigan with a B.A. in English. In addition, David attained his Master's in Education from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and a cleared Georgia credential in Elementary Education. Additionally, he possesses 16 years of classroom experience with advanced differentiation strategies, a gifted endorsement, and extensive experience with personalized lesson planning. David also created numerous curriculums in all subjects from scratch, and has participated in two external accreditations accompanied by curriculum maps and storyboards. He tutors all levels of students, coaches private and group lessons, and is available as a lecturer for speaker events. Currently, he promotes his book "Back and Forth: Tennis Through Virtues" and operates Dave's Total Tutoring and Coaching. David also consults, proofreads content, edits, and he writes book reviews, music, and articles for various publications.
