One of the major vectors for coinvestment is jobs being done for a specific project. Although teams are self-ognaizing and typically have their own roles and responsibilities laid out at inception, we recommend the following approach to jobs that are open to newcomers. They are organized along four standard questions - Why, What, Who and How.
'Why' is a job's purpose for being - the desired outcome that doing this job should bring about.
For example, a gardener's 'why' might be producing food from a given plot.
A job's 'what' is the job's domain of responsibility - What is under the control of the person doing the job and requires their permission to change.
A gardener's 'what' might be the tools, plot, and plants under their care.
A job's 'who' is who relies on the job being done - the commitments and responsibilities attached to the job.
A gardener's 'who' might be the CSA organizer, who depends on the gardener to produce vegetables for sale and distribution.
A job's 'How' is its best practices - this is a living document that lays out how to do the job as it is currently understood.
A 'how' document might begin with 'update this document as appropriate...'
