Who am I?

Daniel Heitshusen - Last Updated May, 2020

My name is Daniel Heitshusen. I am within three months of marrying the love of my life, graduating from Concordia University in Seward, NE with a B.A. in Theology, entering Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO to pursue a Master of Divinity, with the goal of being an ordained pastor in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS). A brief bullet point overview of my life:

  • I am the first-born of two to Rev. Scott and Jennifer Heitshusen. My brother, Ben, is two years younger than me, and has Down syndrome.

  • I was baptized into the Lord's family in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit on May 16, 1999 at Trinity Downtown Lutheran Church in Orlando, FL.

  • My dad was Called to be the pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Athens, GA in 2001, to St. Mark Lutheran Church and School in Houston, TX in 2006, and to Lifebridge Community Lutheran Church in 2018.

  • I was very involved in the Youth Group, SM2, during high school at St. Mark. I got the opportunity to go on a variety of different youth events, mission trips/servant events, etc. and am grateful for how each one of them, in some way or another, strengthened and/or impacted my faith.

  • At one of those events (Missional Youth Retreat hosted by Concordia University, TX) as we were serving with LINC Austin, I decided I wanted to help people who were hurting and that church work was the best way to do that; I was not sure whether that would be as a Director of Christian Education (DCE) or as a Pastor.

  • For most of high school, I was convinced I would go to Concordia University, TX for college. During my senior year, for various reasons, I ended up also looking into Concordia University, NE and Concordia University, WI. I was really impressed with what I saw at Concordia NE, and ended up going there for college to get my B.A. in Theology.

  • During my first week of college, I met the love of my life, Rachel, who I am blessed to be marrying later this year!

  • I decided on pursuing the office of Pastor over the office of DCE, as I wanted the opportunity to preach the Word and administer the Sacraments as well as teach the Word, help people through service, pastoral counsel, visitations, etc.

  • I will be getting married, graduating Concordia, NE, and beginning Seminary at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO all in August!

What do I believe?

I am a Christian!

  • I believe Scripture to be the God-breathed, without error, unfailing, clear, sufficient, efficacious (able to do things), Word of God. You can find the Scriptures for free at the buttons bellow.

  • I hold to the faith confessed in the Apostle's, Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds (The PDF titled "The Three Ecumenical Creeds" in the link bellow)

  • I am a member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, which confesses the Lutheran Confessions as being an accurate interpretation of the Scriptures. You can find PDFs of the Confessions in the button bellow as well, and Luther's Small Catechism at the link to the Catechism website.

Why this website?

To Educate and Provide Resources

This website is designed with the hope that it will serve you (hence "virtual service"). It will do so in 2 ways:

  1. Through my content.

  2. Through direction to other resources.

I have not yet begun to build up my own content (though that is coming). The goal there is to serve you through means of teaching. The videos will focus on teaching Christianity, doing devotions, Bible studies, etc. I will strive to have videos posted on a weekly basis, starting May 23, 2020. In each video, I will have a "resource of the week" where I will elaborate on one of the resources I have posted here on my website. NONE of the resources are sponsoring me in any way, shape, or form.

The "Resources" section has the goal of pointing you to books, websites, hotlines, etc. that I think will be beneficial and helpful to you, the viewer. I try to have both free resources (mainly websites) and some that will cost money (mainly books). All of them, I think, are well worth your time and money! The resources are divided into four categories: 1) Christian resources, 2) Mental Health resources, 3) Sexuality resources, and 4) Special Needs resources. I intend to continuously add resources to these sections as I learn about more and as time progresses.
