The Virtual Banda Filarmonica Project was created by Joseph Resendes to provide musicians within the Portuguese wind band community with the opportunity to hold onto their beloved traditions - virtually! With the growing restrictions to public events and gatherings, it is my hope to provide all musicians with an outlet to continue with their adored traditions - especially during these times of uncertainty.
Looking forward to working with you!

Please remember to fill out our registration form before you submit your video. This will help us identify who you are, where you are from, the band you play in, and what instrument you play!
FAQ:
Who can participate?
Anyone who is currently (or formerly) a musician of a Portuguese banda filarmonica across the world.
Are there any age restrictions?
There are no age restrictions. However, all participants will be required to acknowledge and provide their consent to use their audio and video submissions on various public outlets (social media, media etc).
Is there a cost?
The creation of each video takes an enormous amount of time to produce and publish. This predominantly depends on the number of participants, and the length or complexity of each piece. As such, each individual project may or may not include submission fees to help offset the costs associated with the production of a video. Please refer to each individual project below for additional information.
How does this work?
Each project will offer you specific instructions on how to learn the music, practice the music, and submit your parts online!
The Hino do Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres has become an integral part of many bandas filarmonicas across the world. The devotion to the image and what it represented began in the 17th and 18th centuries, however the faithful today have continued to honour Santo Cristo by hosting festivals in all parts of the world. The largest is still held in Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel - Acores, however others are annually hosted across Canada, and the USA.
