The VALIANT Project

Virtual Exchange refers to the different educational approaches to connecting people from different cultural backgrounds in online collaborative learning. More and more school teachers and university educators are using Virtual Exchange to engage their students in online international learning experiences as part of their studies. The Erasmus+ KA3 project VALIANT (Virtual Innovation and Support Networks for Teachers) has carried out a large-scale study to explore different ways that Virtual Exchange can be used in the contexts of Initial Teacher Education and Continuous Professional Development.

This workshop will provide a practical, hands-on introduction to Virtual Exchange and how it can be used by in-service school teachers and by teacher trainers in Initial Teacher Education. Participants will learn about the different approaches to Virtual Exchange and the steps which educators need to take to engage their own students in these exciting online intercultural learning projects.
