The Virkki Family Society was established in 1981 for strengthening the connections between members of the Virkki family. Targets for the Virkki family society is to explore the roots and history of the family, collect, publish and archive family tradition, arrange social meetings and festivities for the family members.
The Virkki family society arranges family meeting on every three years. The last family meeting was held at the Alahovi winery in Kuopio on August 2025. Please see the photos section (Kuva-arkisto) for details.
Everyone, whose father or mother was born in the family, or who is married to a member of the Virkki family, and has payed his/her membership fee, belongs to the Virkki family society. A family society member can also be accepted, if he/she is interested of the Virkki family. The term is currently three years long.
Virkki family originates from Finnish Karelia area. The family has been split between several family ancestries which originate from different parishes, towns and houses. There are at least five separate known ancestries.
