About me

Virginia Fernandes Mota is a professor at the Informatics Department of COLTEC-Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil. She has a Ph.D. in Computer Science at UFMG (2018). She is currently a researcher in the Pattern Recognition and Earth Observation (PATREO) group at UFMG. She holds a MSc Degree in Computer Modelling (2011) at Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora, Brazil, and a Master in Systèmes Intelligents et Communicants (2010) at École Nationale Supérieure de l'Electronique et de ses Applications, France. She also holds a BSc Degree in Computer Science (2008) at Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora, Brazil.

Always works encouraging girls to enter the STEM area. She supervised works that won the Technovation Challenge (Mappid in 2020), Change the Game (2nd Edition) and Gamethons (2023).

PATREO - Pattern Recognition and Earth Observation

The Pattern Recognition and Earth Observation (PATREO) group is interested in researching and developing new Machine Learning and Image Processing techniques. The main research applications are very related, but not restricted, to the Earth Observation issues, which include remote sensing, agriculture, ecology, and other related fields.
