Economy/Economy X: EITHER one bag with dimensions of 56 x 36 x 23 cm and a maximum weight of 7 kg, OR two smaller bags with individual dimensions of 48 x 34 x 23 cm and a combined weight of 7 kg, OR one standard bag with dimensions of 56 x 36 x 23 cm, plus a suitcase measuring 114 x 60 x 11 cm, with a maximum combined weight of 7 kg. All passengers can also carry small personal items.
Business Class customers and Velocity gold/platinum members may carry EITHER one bag with dimensions of 56 x 36 x 23 cm and a maximum weight of 7 kg, OR two smaller bags with individual dimensions of 48 x 34 x 23 cm, each weighing 7 kg , OR one standard bag with dimensions of 56 x 36 x 23 cm, plus a suitcase measuring 114 x 60 x 11 cm, each weighing not more than 7 kg. All passengers can also carry small personal items. Note that on some smaller aircraft, business class passengers must comply with the smaller economy class carry-on baggage allowance.
If your bag weighs more than 7 kg or exceeds the dimensions allowed by Virgin Australia's carry-on baggage allowance, it will be held and charged.
Guests traveling with a baby sitting on their lap can take an additional 7 kg bag including items for use in the cabin, such as diapers and baby food.

Musical instruments
Small musical instruments may be brought on board as carry-on baggage provided that each instrument does not exceed the dimensions of 85 cm x 34cm x 23cm (total linear dimensions 142cm).
Each musical instrument counts towards your carry-on allowance - replacing a piece with a total linear dimension of 105cm. See more information about musical instruments in oversized and fragile items.
The only items that can occupy a seat (besides guests) are cellos or guitars. Guests planning to travel with a cello or guitar should contact the Guest Relations Center to reserve additional seating.
Powders, liquids, aerosols and gels
Guests are allowed to bring liquids, aerosols and/or gels (with lids) in containers with a maximum capacity of 100ml each. All containers must fit comfortably in a one liter clear resealable plastic bag, which must be completely sealed. Each guest is allowed up to one bag and these bags may need to be presented separately at the security checkpoint.

Additional security measures for travel to the USA
The United States Government's security organization - the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requires enhanced security measures at select foreign airports with direct flights to the U.S. This may involve some guests undergoing additional screening steps at the departure gate. Some additional measures may also involve the inspection and/or restriction of some personal electronic devices (PEDs).
Should you:
Refuse or fail to comply with any screening requirement
Unable to remove protective casings from personal electronic devices that must undergo additional inspection
Have personal electronic devices that may show signs of tampering or tampering
Have items in your carry-on baggage (including personal electronic devices) that cannot be cleared by Security Officers and/or Law Enforcement Officers
Either your item and/or yourself may be denied upload.
