Viral Fact Check is a browser extension that helps you verify claims and images. We respect your privacy. The extension does not collect, store, sell, or transmit your personal data.
What we do NOT do:
- We do not collect or store any personal information.
- We do not use analytics, tracking, cookies, or advertising.
- We do not create accounts or require sign-in.
- We do not record or transmit your browsing history.
What data is used, and where it goes:
The extension only acts when you ask it to — when you select text, right-click an item, type a claim, or choose a search/image option. At that moment, the specific text or image link you choose to check is sent as an ordinary, anonymous query to public services (such as DuckDuckGo and Wikipedia) to fetch results. When you click a search or fact-check option, your browser opens that website in a new tab, exactly as if you had searched there yourself. These requests are handled by those third parties under their own privacy policies. We have no server and we do not log anything.
Local storage:
The extension uses temporary browser session storage only to pass the item you right-clicked to the side panel. It is cleared automatically and contains no personal data.
Permissions:
Each browser permission is used solely to provide the fact-checking features described on the store listing. They are never used to collect personal data.
